Lacoste USA CEO to conduct networking event at The Citadel

Bob Siegel, chief executive officer of Lacoste USA will visit The Citadel at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7. He will conduct a networking event for women business owners and entrepreneurs at the Holliday Alumni Center, 69 Hagood Ave.

A Charleston resident, Siegel has 40 years of experience in the wholesale and retail industry. In 1964 he joined Levi Strauss & Co. and moved rapidly in various management positions. In 1980 he was named president of Menswear and in 1984 he became president of Designer Brands based in New York City. He returned to San Francisco in 1986 and developed the khaki concept. The creater of the Dockers Brand, Siegel saw Dockers become a billion dollar wholesale brand.

In 1993 Siegel joined the Stride Rite Corp as chairman and CEO. It was during that time that he signed Tommy Hilfiger to a shoe license. Siegel retired from Stride Rite in December 1998 and joined Kurt Salmon Associates as managing director of branded products, the retail and apparel industry's leading consulting firm. In 2002 he moved to Lacoste USA. Under this leadership sales have increased seven fold in three years and operating profits went from nine consecutives years of losses to substantial profitability. Siegel also serves as an independent director for Oshkosh B’Gosh. He previously served as a director of Stride Rite, Joe Boxer, McNaughton Apparel and The Bon Ton Stores.
