Many 'thanks' from Scotland

We have received numerous notes of congratulations about The Citadel Regimental Band and Pipes performing at the 2010 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Some from people who are not affiliated with The Citadel but were in Edinburgh and at the Tattoo. Here's a look at some of the emails and Facebook and YouTube posts that have come in.

We just had to write to let you know how proud we were to see The Citadel Regimental Band and Pipes perform at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on August 16th!

Suzanne and I were on tour in Scotland and we were able to get tickets to the Monday evening show. We were quite pleased to see the USA represented by such a fine organization. We thoroughly enjoyed their music program and the crowd of some 9000 really enjoyed "Hey, Baby!"

It was a wonderful sight and I'm sure the cadets left with many memories.

Please extend our best wishes to the band's Director, staff and the cadets.

Thank you for a great show! Good luck and God bless you!

I made it to the show tonight. It was incredible. You have outdone yourself and the Pipes and Band have done themselves, the school, and our country proud.

Walking around the castle today really brought back a lot of memories from when I was there back in '91. The places we would sit and wait to come back out of the castle. It seemed like just yesterday. The folks in the band will have all of those grand memories.

Please pass on my congratulations to the band. I can't say that I have ever been more proud to be able to call myself an alumnus.

Jeff Stevenson, '91

I saw your performance on the 5th and thought you were incredible. As a fellow American, who has been living in Scotland the past 5 years, I'm glad you are taking the opportunity to get out and explore the area while you're here. It was a trip like the one you're all on now, that lead me to live abroad. Enjoy your time here!

Dear The Citadel

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the very entertaining performance you put on at the Military Tattoo in Edinburgh on Monday night!

It was an amazing performance and your rendition of "Hey Baby" was simply brilliant! Hope you enjoy the rest of your performances and I hope it gets dry very soon!

Kind regards,
Ian Piper

We recently attended the Military Tattoo and wanted to tell you how impressed and proud we were to have The Citadel represent the U.S. They did a wonderful job. They were very professional in their appearance and their performance drew rave reviews.

Please thank those young people for us.

We have been following all the news from Edinburgh that we can get. The coverage has been tremendous and the CADETS have looked superlative.

As a bandsman from years back, I am very envious of their success and the great opportunity the members of the band have.

Great work by all of them and their leaders. Know all alumni and friends who have been able to be there with them are proud of their accomplishments.

I attended the Tattoo last night, August 19 and enjoyed every minute of it. I loved your uniforms, your tartan is beautiful and your performance was superb. Thank you!

The first thing my wife Gwen and I do in the morning is look for your latest videos, blogs, and pictures! Keep up your great efforts. They are being enjoyed. Our son Andrew is a volunteer firefighter in the Bellerose Fire Department. All of his fellow firefighters have been also enjoying the videos and pictures you are sending. He leads our parades with his pipes, so the entire town misses him when he is not here!
