Mentoring Students with Scholarship Opportunities

The Citadel has created policies to support faculty mentoring students in the areas of research, independent studies, and internships.  The purpose of these policies is to provide course credit for mentoring students in research/scholarly projects and internships during the academic year. Research/scholarly project courses and internships exist to promote hands-on learning experiences for students at The Citadel.  Traditionally, faculty were asked to mentor students while also required to meet the obligations related to teaching, service and research.  However, The Citadel recognizes the importance of these high-impact practices as it relates to faculty retention and student success within the academic experience.

For complete details of these policies, please review the following policies.

Department heads are to work with the faculty and their deans to document these courses at the end of each semester.  Please contact the URO office for more details about documentation
