Lester Pittman, LTC (USAF Ret.)
Lt. Col. Lester Pittman graduated from The Citadel in 1970 and served in the U.S Air Force for twenty years. He flew as a navigator in the RF-4C tactical reconnaissance aircraft, taught history at the Air Force Academy, and served nine years in Europe with NATO. After his Air Force career he pursued graduate studies at the University of Virginia and earned a PhD in history. In addition to teaching at the Air Force Academy, he taught at five other colleges and universities, including The Citadel and 15 years at Trident Technical College. He was baptized and confirmed his freshman year in St Albans Episcopal Chapel at The Citadel, and now serves as the catechist at Grace Church Episcopal Cathedral in Charleston and leader of the St Albans Episcopal Fellowship at The Citadel.
