Heroism Day Sign-up Form

 

 

Please review the following descriptions for all Heroism Day activities. Then, fill out the form at the bottom of this page. The form will ask that you select your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice activities. Please note that activities are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.

A - Freshman SHARE Project in Schools
Freshman cadets will participate in a heroism-themed outreach project in 12 CCSD schools, including helping >2000 children make cards for Veterans as well as for other heroes. All freshmen should select this option unless approved in writing to do an alternative. (E-mail chris.fudge@citadel.edu to request an alternative)

D - March/Run to Honor Veterans
Heroism Day "Honor Veterans" March/Run to Patriot's Point will coordinate with each ROTC unit on a joint March/Run to Patriot's Point to visit the Medal of Honor Museum. The pre-planned route will be coordinated with Charleston and Mt. Pleasant Police Departments. The team will coordinate to have Veterans and Wounded Warriors present to meet with cadets at the MOH Museum. This event is open to the SCCC and non-contract cadets will join their own ROTC units.

E - CitiImpact Disaster Training
In this CITIMPACT Disaster Relief Training Session, cadets attending this workshop will be certified for tier-4 emergency response from 9:30 am - 2:00 pm in Buyer Auditorium, MCH. The morning session will consist of interactive instruction, round group discussions, PowerPoint presentations, and video clips of disaster preparedness, as well as holistic involvement in both disaster and non-disaster type relief efforts (i.e., on-going reconstruction long after a disaster). There will be guest speakers who are the heroes who put their lives on the line every day from the local community, emergency response centers, police force, city emergency relief, fire department and SWAT teams as well as many Citadel graduates with an opening message from Mayor Joe Riley. The afternoon session from 2:30-5:00 pm will be held in the Greater Issues Room, MCH and will focus on in-depth training, and FEMA certification information will also be available. Y - Core Values Extended Definition Development Workshop
The Citadel currently has a one-paragraph definition for each core value.  This workshop explores 120 virtues and where applicable, aligns those with each of our core values.  Participants write explanations demonstrating how each word supports each core value.  The objective is to take our understanding of each core value to the next level by linking the values to character and behavior.  A goal is to integrate the findings into the LDRS 201 curriculum.  The outcome will be a written document by the end of the workshop.

Z - Citadel Republican Society Election Day Victory Team
Cadets will participate in election day campaign activities, to include posting campaign signs, waving campaign signs, distributing literature for candidates for municipal offices, and other "get out the vote" activities.  Through these election day activities, cadets will put into practice the Citadel Core Value of Duty, in this case civic duty to participate in the democratic process.
