Engineering's Bower wins regional, national recognition

Dr. Kevin C. Bower, assistant professor in civil and environmental engineering, has been honored by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) for his activities as The Citadel's campus representative to the national organization.

PhotoBower was named "Most Outstanding Campus Representative" at the annual meeting of the ASEE Southeastern Section, held April 2-4 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. As an ASEE Rep on campus, Bower was instrumental in membership recruitment and encouraged his engineering colleagues to submit papers to the national and regional ASEE conferences.

In addition, Bower's work was recognized with the Zone II national award as the most outstanding campus representative during the national ASEE conference on June 22 in Chicago.

"Dr. Bower brings to this important job an enormous amount of energy that has helped the School of Engineering be a significant player in both the regional and national arms of the ASEE," said School of Engineering Dean Dennis Fallon. "He is most deserving of this award, and we are fortunate to have him as part of our faculty."

Bower has been at The Citadel for three years teaching primarily environmental engineering. He has won several awards for teaching excellence including the prestigious ASEE-SE New Teacher Award in 2005.

Bower is the third engineering faculty member to be recognized this summer for teaching, research and ASEE activities. Others are Timothy Mays and Ken Brannan.
